Renewable Energy Workshop

April 18, 2017 | 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Oaklawn Grange, 42 Wheelock Ave., Cranston, RI

2 AICP credits offered

The development of renewable energy resources presents opportunities and challenges to the residents of Rhode Island. State and local officials are developing and implementing new policies to bring the benefits of wind, solar, and other renewables to homeowners, commercial interests, farmers, and communities.

The workshop will provide residents with an opportunity to learn about state programs such as Solarize RI, net metering, and future development goals. Planning for energy within Comprehensive Plans has become a requirement for communities. We'll find inspiration for Cranston in the town of Cumberland, which recently developed a model renewable energy plan that minimizes negative impact to its natural resources.

  • Shauna Beland, Program Development Chief, Department of Energy Resources
  • Kevin Nelson, Supervising Planner, RI Division of Planning
  • •Jonathan Stevens, Director, Cumberland Office of Planning and Community Development

Target Audiences: Town staff, officials, and volunteers, residential and commercial property owners, farmers, land trusts, developers, non-profit conservation organizations, and other interested parties.

This workshop is free of charge. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP here so we can be sure to have enough!
